How the Texas Hill Country Inspired My Woodcarving Journey

Living in the peaceful Texas Hill Country has been a true inspiration for my journey into woodcarving. After spending 20 years in the bustling city of Houston, moving to Spring Branch brought a much-needed breath of fresh air and space to explore my passions. It wasn’t long before I retired from the traditional workforce and embraced woodcarving as more than just a hobby, it allowed me to recapture memories of summers spent with my grandparents in their simple, loving home. Over the years, it’s become a true calling, allowing me to craft meaningful, heirloom-quality pieces that connect deeply with the people who commission them.

As a member of the Texas Woodcarvers Guild and Alamo Area Woodcarvers Club, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the most talented artists in the field. These experiences have only deepened my appreciation for the craft and helped me hone my skills. Woodcarving since 2008, I take great pride in continuing this tradition, creating unique works that reflect both the natural beauty of the wood and the personal stories of my clients.
